Princess Kate Has Finished Chemotherapy And Says She Is ‘focused On Staying Cancer Free’

The Princess of Wales has said her focus is to “stay cancer free” after finishing chemotherapy treatment.

She made the announcement in her most personal family video to date showing her spending private time with Prince William and her children.

The incredibly candid and intimate video shows the princess, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis spending time together in Norfolk with a message voiced by Kate.

In the clip, Kate says: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

In March the princess confirmed that pre-cancerous cells had been found following abdominal surgery and that she would have to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Opening up about the impact it has had on her and the family, she says: “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus.”

The video, which was filmed in Norfolk last month, shows the family enjoying time together in the woods and on the beach, playing cards, and having a picnic.

Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are also filmed playing games with the family.

Perhaps most strikingly, the video also shows incredibly loving moments with Kate and William seen cuddling each other, and William giving her a kiss on the cheek.

The princess also uses the video to give a steer on her plans for returning to royal duties, with Kate and the palace stressing that her priority now is her “path to healing” and that the process of “full recovery is long”.

However, we’re told that she will be working from home and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when she can.

She also thanks the public for their support and recognises those also going through their own cancer journeys.

The princess says: “Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling. To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand.

“Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
